Introduction

Big companies have a surprising amount of design work that never makes the news. A truck maker needs a dealer portal. A bank needs a new investor site. A global brand needs its guidelines turned into hundreds of web pages that legal, marketing and IT all approve. This kind of work rewards reliability and process as much as creativity.

Mid-sized agencies that can handle enterprise clients without enterprise overhead fill that gap.

ArtVersion is a branding, UX and web design agency in Chicago, with a second office in Northbrook, Illinois. Clutch lists it as founded in 1999. It has 10–49 people and is led by principal and creative director Goran Paun. About half its clients are enterprises, including PepsiCo, Caterpillar, Mack Trucks, Volvo, Morgan Stanley, Hilton, Cartier and TransUnion. Clutch shows a $10,000+ minimum, $150–$199 per hour and a 4.9 rating from 43 reviews.

The Short Answer: Is ArtVersion Worth It?

Yes, if you're an enterprise or mid-market company that needs branding, UX and web design delivered reliably and on time, especially on WordPress or Adobe Experience Manager. If you want an agency that drives strategy hard, ask for that explicitly.

How I Wrote This Review

Disclosure: ArtVersion and I both design brands and websites, and my studio appears in the alternatives table. It serves larger companies than I usually do, so our overlap is limited.

I haven't hired ArtVersion. On November 1, 2026, I read its Clutch profile and a sample of its 43 reviews. Clutch shows a 1999 founding year, while a state record shows the current company was formed in 2011, so I've used the agency's stated history with that caveat.

Who Is ArtVersion?

ArtVersion is based at 211 West Wacker Drive in Chicago, with another office in Northbrook. Clutch lists it as founded in 1999, and its About section mentions about 27 years in business. Its 10–49 people include about 15 designers, 12 developers and 10 strategists.

It's led by Goran Paun, principal and creative director, with Erin Lentz as executive director of design and Petra Campbell as art director.

Its work is evenly split across branding, graphic design, UX/UI design and web design (20% each), plus digital and marketing strategy. Its branding work focuses on corporate identity, brand strategy, messaging and naming. On the web, it builds mostly on WordPress (72%), with Adobe Experience Manager and Drupal for larger clients.

About 50% of its clients are enterprises, including PepsiCo, Caterpillar, Mack Trucks, Volvo, Morgan Stanley, TransUnion, Hilton, Cartier, Datacolor and LEED.

The main catch

Reviewers consistently praise delivery but note limited proactive guidance. Less experienced clients wanted the agency to lead more directly. One also had a junior project manager at first before leadership assigned someone more senior. If you need strong strategic direction, ask for a senior strategist from day one.

A worked example

Picture a global equipment manufacturer whose dealer website is outdated and built on an aging CMS. It needs a refreshed identity for its digital channels and a new site on Adobe Experience Manager.

ArtVersion has worked with Caterpillar, Mack Trucks and Volvo and builds on AEM. A comparable project might refresh the digital identity, plan the site structure with dealers, design the UI and build templates in AEM. If I were that manufacturer, I'd ask for a component library my in-house team can reuse for future pages.

What Do Clients Say?

Across 43 Clutch reviews, ArtVersion averages 4.9, with cost at 4.9 and quality at 4.8. The most common praise is that the team is timely, communicative, professional and produces high-quality, creative work. Reviewers say the agency adapts well to changes.

The main criticism is that the agency sometimes waits for direction rather than leading. One reviewer wished some team members worked East Coast hours, and another mentioned a project manager change.

Is ArtVersion Legit?

Yes. It has offices in Chicago and Northbrook, a 4.9 rating from 43 Clutch reviews and enterprise clients like PepsiCo and Caterpillar.

My Honest Design Opinion

As a designer, I respect agencies that keep enterprise clients happy for years. Big-company projects involve layers of approval, and delivering on time through all of that is a real skill.

I didn't see full case studies, so I won't rate its look. My one tip: if you want bold ideas, say so in your brief, since reviewers suggest the team follows the client's lead.

Pros of ArtVersion

  • 4.9 from 43 reviews.

  • Enterprise client list.

  • AEM, WordPress and Drupal skills.

  • Branding and web together.

  • Reasonable $10,000 minimum.

Cons of ArtVersion

  • Less proactive guidance.

  • PM seniority varies.

  • Central time zone only.

  • Founding history is unclear.

  • Higher hourly rate.

Who Should Hire ArtVersion?

ArtVersion is a strong fit if you're:

  • an enterprise brand on AEM or WordPress,

  • a manufacturer or industrial company,

  • a financial services firm,

  • a mid-market company needing brand and web.

Who Should Look Elsewhere?

You'd probably prefer another studio if you need:

  • an agency to lead your strategy,

  • a very small budget,

  • an East Coast-based team.

Questions to Ask Before You Sign

  1. "Who will lead strategy on our project?"

  2. "How senior is our project manager?"

  3. "Which CMS do you recommend for us?"

  4. "Will we get a component library?"

  5. "What budget range should we plan for?"

  6. "Can we speak to an enterprise client?"
